PRISON CAMPUSES

Bringing God Behind Bars

At Saddleback Church, we are answering God’s call to “help the least of these” (Matthew 25:40) and to “remember those in prison” (Hebrews 13:3) by bringing Jesus’ love and message to inmates, their families, and prison staff. Through our partnership with our friends at God Behind Bars, we are establishing Prison Campuses that offer hope, healing, and new beginnings.

Our Prison Campuses are a place where lives are transformed by the power of Jesus! Through worship services, small groups, and other programs, we will urgently lead people to say “yes” to Jesus and His purposes for their lives. Together, we will create communities of grace, forgiveness, and transformation, giving individuals a fresh start through the love and power of Christ.

God is moving behind prison walls! Step into this incredible opportunity to share hope, healing, and the power of Jesus with inmates, their families, and prison staff! Will you answer His call to bring light into the darkness? Will you join us in making a difference in the lives of those affected by incarceration?

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Prison Campus?

A Prison Campus is where we bring Saddleback Church into prisons. Through our partnership with God Behind Bars, we bridge the gap between the State Department of Corrections (DOC) and our church, providing worship services, small groups, and other programs to inmates, their families, and prison staff.

What types of programs do Prison Campuses offer?

Prison Campus programs vary by location, but they generally include:

  • Worship services where inmates experience our dynamic weekend worship service on video
  • Small Groups to foster spiritual growth and community
  • Celebrate Recovery to help inmates find freedom from life’s hurts, hang-ups, and bad habits
  • Family Programs to restore relationships between inmates and their loved ones and provide resources to those on the “outside”
  • Pre-release Support & Re-entry Assistance to help inmates transition successfully after release
  • Prison Staff Appreciation to care for and support those working in correctional facilities

Can I volunteer to help if I don’t want to go into a prison?

Absolutely! There are many ways to support our Prison Campuses without physically entering a prison. Some options include:

  • Praying – Lift up inmates, their families, and prison staff in prayer
  • Helping Behind the Scenes – Serve in administrative roles, coordinate donations, or assist with event planning
  • Ministering to Families of Inmates – Offer encouragement, support, and resources to help families stay connected and navigate challenges
  • Ministering to Prison Staff – Show appreciation for correctional officers and staff
  • Supporting Re-Entry Efforts – Assist with guiding those transitioning back into society
  • Donating – Contribute needed items for Fresh Start Kits
